"Is there a new way for cars and swap to enter the park? "

New for 2008: Show cars that drive in without trailer will enter and exit the show field starting at 7:00am directly from a new north gate and entry. No dusty entry and exit road. Show cars on/in trailers will enter the show starting at 7:00am along in line with the swap meeters. We tried this at Fall Fling and it worked really well and we will even make some more improvements to it.

This is a entry change was a response to some suggestions made on the survey forms you all filled out at Spring Fling 2008. If you know car owners that haven't come to Spring Fling because they idled in line too long or the entrance/exit was too dusty, please tell them about the changes.

These changes were made to improve things for participants AND hopefully encourage MORE SHOW CARS to attend.

"IMHO, this is the single best improvement you (CPW) have ever made to the show." -Steve V. (68HemiB)

"I thought the second entrance is a great idea and worked well, -- there was a little dust created at the entrance to the grass but a lot better than the other entrance." Steve (moparman70)

"...we got there around 7:45am and when we rounded the corner and there was no line of cars I thought Man this cant be good and then we drove right in with only 3 cars in front of us. Then we seen all the swapper and cars and couldn't figure out how we got in so fast. The improvments were great" Ron P. swap spot (Mopar_Ron)

"Can I put a tent over my car? "

No. By fire department code you cannot put a tent over a vehicle in the park. Potential fire hazzard. More than that, the wind in the valley can pick up and any time and damage another car, your car, or another person.

"I can't decide how many regular swap meet spaces I need.?"

We will not have oversize/half spaces. End to end length of vehicle and trailer must be equal to or under space(s) purchased. We WILL the measure day of show at the registration booths. Vehicles not physically contacted must fill out two forms.

Example 1: You have a truck and trailer with a car to sell on it. Measure from the front bumper of truck to rear bumper and that is 19 feet. Then add distance from the trailer ball hitch to the back end of the trailer and that is 18 feet. The total is 37 feet. You would pay for two 20'x20' spaces.

Example 2: you have a truck and small trailer.. Measure from the front bumper of truck to rear bumper and that is 18 feet. Then add distance from the trailer ball hitch to the back end of the trailer and that is 10 feet. The total is 28 feet. You would pay for two 20'x20' spaces.

"What if I want to drop off parts in the swap meet section."

To get into the park before 10:00 am you must be a paid show car or a swap meeter.

Explanation: If The entry gate is dedicated to registration of paid show car and swap meeters until 10am. Then by L.A Fire Dept. rules vehicle movement in the park is prohibited until 1:00pm.

After 1:00 pm you are free to drive in and pick up parts in the swap meet.

If we let vehicles enter and exit to drop off parts it becomes a burden to make sure they leave the premises. This extra effort could be spent helping the paid entrants. It also slows down the registration areas for the people that are paying to get in and participate.

"What if I want to drop off a car for show and take my truck to the swap section?"

This is fine. You pay for your car show entry and you pay for the swap meet space.

"Can I park with my friends and/or other car club members?"

Saturday: Generally speaking, yes, but you have to be near each other in line. Cars are parked on a first come first served basis. If someone arrives with you on Woodley Ave., you will be able to park next to each other if there is room.

NEW for Spring Fling 2009!: If your club or webgroup can pre-register 10 or more cars, we will reserve a section for that number of pre-registered cars. ONLY pre-registered show cars. You must email pwall5@aol.com before hand so we know what clubs/groups to look for in the pre-registration forms. Please write "clubname reserved saturday parking"

Sunday: Generally speaking, no. Cars are parked by class as they come in. If someone is in your same exact class and arrives with you on Woodley Ave., you will come in together naturally.

Explanation: If we saved spaces for people, there would be big parking gaps in the show parking and we could run out of room. How would you feel if you came hundreds of miles to the show and there wasn't room for you? Also, cars driving through the rows trying to find their saved space can create a traffic mess. This slows down the registration line and is danger to spectators. It's already hard enough trying to park 550+ cars in their classes. We want everyone to have an opportunity to enjoy the show.

"Can I put up a tent in the car show parking?"

No. Large Tents or EZ-Ups are prohibited in the show parking area for Fall Fling IV.

Explanation: Our liabilty insurance does not cover large tents in the car show area. Large Tents or EZ-Ups can be picked by the wind and can fall back to the ground damaging other participants fine Mopars. These are cars that owners have put countless hours, sweat, and money into. Would you like a tent to fall and scratch or dent your car? Or worse, come crashing down to earth on one of your loved ones. Also tents can take up much needed space in the show parking area.

NEW for Spring Fling 2009!: Yes. We are doing a different judging format this year and we will have more awards per class and we will allow repeat winners.

"Can I bring my dog?"

It is recommended that you do not bring pets to the show. If you have to, they MUST be on a leash.

Explanation: There is a lot of foot traffic at the show. A pet could get lost easily and are very hard to control in a large event like this. A pet may not be used to the large amount of people at the show. Other show participants my not be accustomed to pets. There are a lot of rare and delicate vehicles and parts that other participants would not appreciate a pet being near.

"Do you have any Spring Fling Dash Plaques left?"

Yes. We will have a few leftover dash plaques from some previous Spring and Fall Fling shows.

"Is there an RV Park nearby?"

Not very close.

You can park your RV for free in the show spectator parking lot just north of the show next golf course on Friday and Saturday night. That area is locked down at around 9pm and opens around 6am. But it is possible to drive a car in and out with not much creativity between 9pm and 6am.

"Who puts on Spring Fling?"

This seems like a crazy question, but we get it often. Chrysler Performance West car club members volunteer their time and effort to put on the Spring Flings for the past 23 years. Many members since the first show.

We arrive at the park when its still dark in the morning and leave exhausted around 5:00 p.m. if we're lucky. C.P.W. members start working on the next Spring Fling at the very next club meeting after the show. If you appreciate the show, please tell a C.P.W. member! He or she has put in a lot of effort for you to have a good time.

We also get help from some of the other local Mopar clubs with parking and judging.
